Michael Schruender--better known as DaDe or Dade/Ursus--is the
primary representative of a movement in gay erotic art which parallels the effect of Bear
magazine in gay publishing. The central idea is simple: natural and genuine reality, which
means desirable but believable men and reasonably possible sexual situations, people and
events that could (and do!) exist in the lives of modern gay men. Joseph W. Bean, from
the forward to Bears, Beasts and Masculine Beauties: The erotic art of
Dade/Ursus. |
| David Grieger's blood rushed at the very thought of the muscles, the mass, the bulk
meat of a developed mail body as a representation of power and dominance. Joseph W.
Bean, from the forward to Fag Slave to the Muscle Gods: The erotic art of
David/Custom Inks. |

MATT's portfolio grunts, glistens and bulges with cowboys, sailors, marines,
leathermen, construction workers, dads, bears and more, as well as those hunky wrestlers
who have brought this artist deserved international recognition and acclaim. Joseph
W. Bean, from the forward to 'Rasslers, 'Ranglers & Rough Guys:
The erotic art of Matt. |
Take Les's art for itself, and it will take you into Les's world.
A leather world where SM is normal. We can reach this world any time in Les's
art. It is a world all its own... complete and full. It's the Tops,
particularly, who draw us into Les's art. They are easy to know, nice to look at and
they make us fantasize. We can just about walk into Les's world. It is a
Top's-eye view of leather and SM, yet these Tops smile and we like them.
Peter Fiske, from the forward to Take That! Diary of a
Dungeonmaster, Volume 1: The erotic art of Les. |

Almost every image is made from a single piece of black
silhouette paper. I use specially designed scissors to cut holes in the paper, to
make white spaces, but the white spaces are not the point, of course. Nor are the
remaining black areas the point. The sexual stuff is the point, and my way of
celebrating and communicating that is to supply less information - enough to say what it
is, but not so much that I insert my point of view - leaving room for the imagination. Joseph
W. Bean, from the artists introduction to Leathersex Shadows. |
